This past Friday we went to Sintra for our Atlantis Excursion. Sintra is an area just north of Cascais that was the vacation homes of many royal families. There are tons of castles and palaces, we went to see Pena Palace and the Castle of the Moors. Down below I have a picture of me with Pena palace in the background. You can spend days there because there is so much to do. After that we took a weekend trip to Lagos, which is in the Algarve (the southern coast of Portugal). Our directors, the Page's, were there with us and planned the whole weekend for us.
It was beautiful there although a bit windy at first. Saturday morning we started our day with delicious croissants and orange juice and then got on a boat to take us out kayaking. We were able to see many cliffs and caves around and even kayak into some of the caves. Because it was so windy, it was difficult to paddle, and we were so tired by the end. We were also able to go to Benagil Cave which is the most beautiful cave I have ever seen off the beach about 30 minutes away from where we were staying. I forgot to put sunscreen on my legs and got destroyed with a sunburn but it was worth it. We left Lagos Sunday afternoon and our bus got delayed because there was an accident on this small canyon road, the bus couldn't go around or go back so we were stuck for about an hour not moving anywhere. Eventually, 6 hours later we finally made it back to our hostel in Cascais.
